The proposal's objective isn’t to define the shape of the city or of its landscape, but it is more simple: it’s to manipulate it within certain tolerances to make city more livable, preserve and enhance the local cultural, social, and historical assets with a precise and accurate design, a tailor made project.

Streetscape is not simply about space and form, but also about event, action, and what happens in space, we must accommodate a rising urban population, satisfy new needs and wants, and adapt to the historical change brought by economic, social, climate related, and other factors.

The starting point for us was: “The street is the river of life of the city, the place where we come together, the pathway to the center” (William H. Whyte), lively cities are spontaneous sensed as welcoming and safe, the absence of people and city life is often the cause of real or imagined insecurity.

Tverskaya and 1-ya Tverskaya-Yamskaya were subject to various transformations before and after the second world war, it was put to very different uses regarding the time of day or night, and it was perceived in vary different ways. The facades of the buildings don’t show the function, since hotels, office, housing all showed the same exterior, which formed a unified block, show a sharp separation between outer and inner usage. The common space was turned into a public space at distinct moments, nightlife tended to lift the rules, which were in force during daytime.

To improve urban environment’s quality we work on different layers: transport solutions to joint street lane with sidewalk, landscaping to introduce a “third landscape” strip between pedestrian and car, coating replacing the existing pavement with new pattern and material of pavement, urban furniture new element integrated with the sidewalk and infrastructure.
